Stare obreške klijeti, a charming settlement of old vineyard huts, was lovingly built in the 19th and early 20th century. Situated on the gentle slopes of Kalnik, their purpose was to house both the precious wine and the essential tools needed for its production.
Today, they stand perfectly peaceful, surrounded by vineyards with breathtaking views. For those riding a bike, it’s a perfect spot to take a break, grab a snack, refresh themselves and enjoy the surroundings.
If there’s a friendly host nearby, they are happy to welcome visitors in and show them their cellar and offer the home-made wine or brandy to add to this genuine experience.
Besides the grass upkeep, the diligent hosts here engage in a range of activities, from tending to the vineyards and pruning the vines to harvesting the bountiful grapes.
However, sometimes there’s only the greenery, bees and birds there, which makes resting there almost a meditative experience.
